Richard B. Cheney, a distinguished businessman and public servant is the vice-president. Cheney is a recognizable name in Washington over the years. George W. Bush was the fourth president which he was a part of. Bush picked Cheney as his vice presidential candidate in July 2000 citing Cheney's expertise and wisdom. Dick Cheney was a chief of Staff to Presidents, worked for the United States Congress as Secretary of Defense, and served his country in many positions. Both Republicans as well as Democrats admire him for his integrity. Cheney declared that his position in the Bush administration will be that of an honest but quiet advisor. Cheney has accepted the Republican vice-presidential election in 2007, stated that he was looking forward to working under a president who is able to work across party lines and collaborate with rival political parties with goodwill and a common purpose. Richard Bruce Cheney is the son of Richard Herbert Cheney of the late Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. He was born on January 30, 1941 in Lincoln Nebraska. When he was 13 years old, Richard moved his family out of Nebraska and moved to Casper in the state of Casper where his father was the head of Casper's U.S. Department of Agriculture local soil conservancy district.
